CPU 100% Usage

Hello!

Today something weird happened. I was working on webadmin then I looked at CPU and that it was at 100%.
Checked system logs and found no errors,
When I looked at the process list, I found this:

Take a look at root % usage. 300?! [:S]
That usage lasted for more than 15 minutes and users complaining about slow connection and stuff.

Any ideas?

    Hi ,

    If you are using last ver 9.101-12 there is a patch that can help you with that.
    Try to install it.
    http://download.astaro.de/UTM/v9/rpms/9.101/ep-httpproxy-9.10-75.g51d5937.i686.rpm
    And restart the http proxy after install it.
    If you are using av scan in the proxy please try to use use only single scan and change it to avira and not Sophos.

    It´s 9.006-5.

    is there a bug related to that?

    Hi ,

    No it's not.
    Try to change av scan settings to single and use avira.
    If you use proxy profiles change on all of them to single.
    Then restart the proxy.

    Inform if it solve your problem.

    yes it's called install the updates and then the patch..[:)]

    Hi,

    1. check the CPU graphs under reporting; the dashboard graphs are greatly affected by webadmin activity.
    also check the memory/swap graphs.

    2. try running 'top' on the console and let it run for a few seconds.

    We installed the RPM on an UTM 220 cluster and after a restart of the httpproxy, the usage of the proxy is now normal - 5-15%.
    But the snort_inline service is now a little high. In average 35-50% CPU usage.

    How many users and how much traffic is on that cluster

    35 users and average 3Mbps (summarized all interfaces).
    When I compare this value with the 9.100 version, the IPS is quite high.

    But, I just restarted only the master and now seems to be back to normal.
    I observe this behavior.

    Patch 9.1 is a critical update with many changes. We do not update the Astaros on our customers after many tests in our labs with it.
    Besides, this has nothing to do with updates if there are no bugs related to this.

    1- Memory/swap were below 50% as far as I remember. In the graph, CPU was at 100% too.

    2- Sorry, I didnt get this. What do you mean here?

    The http proxy DOES have a bug that is fixed by updating to the latest version and then applying a supported patch...i also test things extensively..take a look at mt history.
