IP traffic logging via wireless router..

Hi

Im really new in this area so pls understand!

I have been running Sophos UTM Home Use Firewall for about a week, its been great, still learning.
Setup:
ADSL Modem router with DHCP
into the Sophos UTM Box
out to an internal wireless router WAN port - wireless LAN serving household devices on a local DHCP.

Issue is the traffic is all assigned to the Sophos UTM IP address - Question - how do I get it to map out the internal traffic connected to the internal wireless router so I can see who and what is connecting and to where...?

Hi,

I suspect that all traffic is getting the IP of the wireless router, NOT the IP of the UTM.

You need to convert the router to an AP by:
1. unplug the WAN port of the router, and only use the LAN ports for your PCs and the connection to the firewall. Tape over the WAN port.

2. disable DHCP on the router, and setup DHCP on the firewall.

Hi Barry,

Well that was easy enough!
Just a note to anyone attempting this... set the subnet on the wireless router (matching UTM, so you can manage the router) before you turn of the wireless router DHCP! I had to "factory reset" to get it back online.
