WAN Ethernet not getting IP address

I set up a new machine with Astaro 9.1 and the machine refuses to get an IP address on the WAN ethernet

Things I tried
1. Implemented allow all rule
2. Double checked WAN ethernet settings (set to DHCP), power cycled ISP equipment
3. Booted up machine in Windows and it gets the WAN IP right away, so this is an Astaro problem

Checked the logs, all I see is a DHCPDISCOVER request with no response, and something called fwrule60001 blocking traffic to an outside IP address

Help??

    Welcome aboard,
    where is the dhcp assigned address to be sourced from?
    Do you put the isp modem/router in bridge mode?

    The issue is not a Sophos UTM problem, but a problem with your modem/router configuration.
    Please post details of the modem/router configuration.

    Hi, 
    Some ISPs, e.g. Verizon FiOS, require a call to support to 'break the lease' or whatever they call it; power-cycling the local equipment isn't enough with them.

    dhcp comes from vdsl modem (using fios) - this already is set to bridged mode.

    this is DEFINITELY a problem with astaro. the same machine w/ windows gets the WAN IP via DHCP no problems.

    again, breaking the lease with fios is not an issue here. the WAN DHCP works fine in windows. and I made sure the lease was broken before i tried to hook it up. it's astaro that's not grabbing the IP for some reason

    Hi,

    I'm guessing you already made sure the correct NIC (EXT) is hooked to the WAN connection... (sometimes the NIC order can change between OS's)

    What kind of NIC is it?

    i'm going to stick this machine in a lab network and see if the same thing happens
