weird issue

I moved my vm's to a new host...after figuring out how a Linux guest can fully crash the host(interesting hyper-v bug..) I fired up the vm and...no interfaces.  How do i get the 9.1 utm to recognize the fact that there ae actually interfaces present?

  • is there a way to make a config dump inside the shell of utm 9?  once that's done is there a place in the file system i can put that file so when the vm boots back up it'll pull the backup?

  • ok i figured what happened to my vms..they renamed all of their eth interfaces.  On my utm eth0 became eth4 eth 1 became 5 and eth2 became 6.  hOw do i rename these?  I can't find anything that tells me in the cli of utm how to get this done..[:(]

  • So they don't show up under the hardware tab for interfaces?

/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules contains the names I believe. A reboot will be required after editing.
  • nods i finally found that..i'm going to post hte steps i had to go through to recover both my utm and sum vm's networking information here os it is readily accessible.

can't get to the webamin when the ip information for all of the interfaces was also removed when they got renamed..otherwise it would have been much simpler..[:)]

  • I don't use SUM, why are you trying to use init=/bin/bash? Forgot root password? Usually you press e before it boots for the GRUB options for Linux.
  • root was never set to i had to set it..[[:)]]  i decided to nuke the sum vm and start from scratch..it has too many problems..[[:)]]
