Hardware Questions - SSD Drive, RAM

Does Sophos UTM install properly on and work properly on SSD hard drives?

What has been your Sophos UTM experience with SSD hard drives.

How much RAM is too much (A Waste of Money)?  Example:  Install 8 GB of RAM instead of installing 4 GB of RAM?  The hardware that I am considering is "overkill".  The hardware will support multiple times (at least 10X) the peak bandwidth that is needed.

Does Sophos UTM support ECC RAM?

    Hi ,

    If you have money to invest so the issue is easy ,
    Buy the best you can with the money you have.
    If you have money for 8Gb RAM so it will be a good decision , instead of SSD I would recommend on SATA III or SAS disks and I would recommend on 2 in raid 1 mode ( mirror ).
    The strongest CPU you can.
    All that is really not a must , you can do it with less without any problem , but if you want to invest on a strong system for some years so do it.

    Note that Astaro/UTM doesn't support any 'soft RAID' controllers; you must use a genuine hardware RAID with coprocessor if you want any RAID support (and better check the HCL or post here for compatibility info).

    I know that some of the Supermicro systems have real RAID as an option, at least.

    Still probably overkill for a small network, especially if you configure automatic backups via email.
