I need to update a pair of UTM 120 Sophos boxes from 8.309 to 9.x using the Up2Date V9 migration button on the WebAdmin.
Read through the topics and did searches but they kind of focus on specific issues. Just looking for general information on how painful or painless this upgrade is and how much time it consumes/hoops it requires me to jump through.
I have had a couple important issues since upgrading from an Astaro 120 UTM box to a Sophos 120 UTM box and while Im not 100% positive its the box, I have a feeling it may be considering the timing is coincidental.
1. FTP transmissions between UTM120 networks is slow and eventually times out. In the past we would move 500-800MB Zip Files between the two networks with simple routing rules to allow for FTP between the networks. Now it just cannot push large file. Say over 5-10mb. Fails nearly every time by eventually timing out and sending an incomplete file.
2. Outlook Web Access cannot attach an email on these networks, or takes forever to do so. Any attachment larger than 1MB takes forever. As soon as we disconnect a workstation from this network and use another non UTM 120 connection, the attachments are added to an OWA email immediately. Even 5MB attachments.
Im hoping getting to V9 may solve these two issues but Im not quite convinced. Right now Id just like to get to V9 without any major hiccups. Going from V7 to V8 was somewhat ugly, but nothing like the V6 to V7 nightmare.
We run Network and Mail security on one box and Network security on another box. We use the SSL VPN Web Portal for remote VPN connections. Beyond that, its mostly just a lot of definitions and NATs.
Obviously I will back up my Config savesets before doing the upgrades. Just dont want any surprises, which is why Im asking now.
