Astaro 110/120 (ASG7) dead: its license and config on a Astaro 220?

Hi everybody!

My Astaro 110/120 has just dead (reboots random, hangs like crazy, eth enabling needs a lot of pull out and plug in cable).

I've tried changing the RAM and changing the disk (cloning the old one) but the problem remains so probably it is related to motherboard.

To cut the long story short I have a fresh backup and an astaro 220.

Will I be able to use my backup on the different firewall?

The answer will be a sad "no" but I believe in miracles.

What is the fastest way to configure the firewall again in that case?

And: very last question: is my vpn license lost with the dead astaro or I can transfer it?

    Hi,

    An Appliance license for a 120 will not work on a 220.

    The backup file would work, but you still need a license.

    Talk to your reseller or Sophos about getting a replacement, or upgrading your license for a 220.

    Note that if you do a factory reset & then a new configuration (without a backup file) on the 220, you should get a 30-day full trial license.

    I would challenge your reseller to help you with this - they should have known about this issue in advance, but they may be new to the UTM.  They can obtain a 30-day demo license for you while they're getting the issue resolved with Sophos.

    Forgive my horrible timing but I'm here to say that the backup from my asg 7 (110/120) worked PERFECTLY on the 220 asg 8 the reseller gave me.

    The reseller was so kind to give me, as you both suggested, a demo license.

    I want to work forever with those lovely devices.
