It appears I'm in a bit of a bind. I was recently looking to build my own lower-power computer to be a new ASG router. However, I found that the Sophos UTM 120 fit the bill, and I was able to get it for about what I would've spent building a new computer. Great! However, I found out the hard way that Home licenses cannot be installed on Sophos UTM appliances. I contacted the licensing department, and they said I could re-image it with ASG and then use the home license. Unfortunately, I just tried that and the ASG installer reports that it cannot be installed on Sophos hardware.
So, I'm beginning to wonder if I can return this thing. As it is, I'm stuck with the free license that's included with all these appliances, which isn't terrible, but it's only the "essential" feature package and does not include VPN, etc. Those are features that, as a business, you have to pay for separately.
My question for you all is: Has anyone found a way to install ASG onto a Sophos appliance? Have you had the same license experience?
