SR-IOV in Hyper-V

Howdy all.

I've got an Intel I-350 adapter in my new server which runs Hyper-V 2012, upon which Sohpos UTM 9 is running as my firewall.

Enabling the SR-IOV option for the NICs causes the Sophos VM to become unreachable and unresponsive after a few minutes YET the Hyper-V Manager always remains able to give me the console, which I use to reboot the VM when it locks up.  I turn OFF the SR-IOV option on the NICs for the Sophos VM and everything is fine.

Can I use SR-IOV, and if so are there suggested options that I have missed?

PS: Sohpos UTM is up-to-date along with my hardware drivers and Windows Updates for Hyper-V.  My Zimbra server running on a CentOS VM on the same physical box (with Microsoft Linux Integration Service v3.4 installed) runs perfectly fine with SR-IOV enabled.

    I am using the newest drivers from Intel (downloaded Friday) and the only VM or direct comm problem appears to be with the UTM VM when IO-SRV is enabled.

    i dont' think HV 2012 is officially supported so results could be unpredictable.

    Ok, well it seems to work fine in a Hyper-V 2012 VM as long as SR-IOV is disabled.  Not a biggie for me, but it could help some of my clients, so put it on the "new features" list if possible please.

    I've just upgraded to Hyper-v 2012 and it looks like Microsoft have made some tweaks and upgrades to the NICs and integration services.  

    I had to upgrade all of the VM's after the host upgrade, but the UTM gateway is still showing as degraded due to the integration services being out of date.

    Just hope Sophos pull their finger out and release an image with the updated drivers more quickly than when SP1 was released for 2008 R2.

    Where did you enable that setting? We have I350-T2 and Realteck PCIe GBE controllers in our hyper-v server and we aren't having any problems at all.

    Your nic and your mainboard need to support sr-iov. I doubt realtek nics are capable of this. To enable this feature you first have to activate this function in the BIOS mostly where your vt-d settings are. Them you will also need to activate it in the driver settings of your nic.
