ASG 110/120 rev. 2 RAM compatibility

Hi guys,

first things first, since this is my first post here: GREAT community and support here, I have literally been reading for hours. And until now I found an answer to every question I had.

I acquired a used Astaro ASG 110/120 rev. 2 and use it with a private license. So yes, I know a RAM upgrade will void the warranty, if there was any left. 

The box came with 512MB installed and I tried to upgrade it to 1GB. Unfortunately, neither an Elixir 1GB nor a Kingston 1GB stick worked. It was just a constant *beeeep* when I tried to boot the ASG. So I went back to the 512MB which boots fine. 

Is there any advice on which RAM sticks work?

    If the BIOS Bootscreen is correct, running at 1,5GHz.

    The memory has not arrived yet, they sent me the wrong one (for an Astaro 120, which is physically different). Now I'm waiting to receive the correct module and will report back at once.

    The memory arrived and works like a charm!
    With 512MB and UTM 9.1 the box was really struggeling, WebGUI took ages to load, no IPS, no Web Protection, still swapping a lot.
    Now with 1GB the box is *much* more snappy, even with IPS and Web Protection loaded still pretty quick. The upgrade is well worth the money!

    As I mentioned earlier, a Kingston 1GB module did not work.
    I ordered a module specifically for the Astaro 110/120 rev. 2 and look what I got: a Samsung 1GB PC2 5300 module. Below is the module that was originally in the box.

    Hope this helps somebody who wants to upgrade RAM [:)]
