I have downloaded and istalled Sophos UTM 9 on 'gateway machine' with 2 NIC's.
eth1 is this internal NIC and setup with ip address 192.168.2.100
eth0 is connected to the internet
On gateway machine i can ping 192.168.2.100
Linux 'admin machine' is connected to a switch that is connected to gateway machine eth1.
Default wired connection on admin machine was:
Device MAC address set as admin machine eth0 MAC address
IPv4 set as Automatic(DHCP)
IPv6 set as Automatic.
Using firefox settings are 'use system proxy settings'.
Firefox cannot reach https://192.168.2.100:4444
admin machine cannot ping 192.168.2.100 or 192.168.2.100:4444 [:S]
I then set the network connection to:
Device MAC address set as admin machine eth0 MAC address
IPv4 set as Manual Address: 192.168.1.14 Netmask 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.2.100 DNS Servers: 192.168.2.100
IPv6 set as Automatic.
admin machine still cannot ping 192.168.2.100 or 192.168.2.100:4444
Firefox cannot reach https://192.168.2.100:4444 using proxy system settings or 'autodetect proxt settings' [:(]
