Astaro Security Gateway 220 Firewall (ASG220) NSA1080L-ASG-220

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying this hardware "ASG220" from someone.  It's used.  He said it has limit of 512MB RAM.  He is selling it for $100.  He said it's used, but working condition.  Is this good deal?

It has version 7.509.  I was wondering if I purchase this hardware, am I able to install v9 and use "Sophos UTM Home Use Firewall" license?

I do have external USB CD drive which I can use to install latest version.  This device manufactured Jan 2006.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, an older (Pentium 4 equivalent or better, depending on your bandwidth needs) PC with 2 NICs would be fine for home use.

Don't bother with that old ASG unit, as the other guys said, 512MB is not enough. A used PC will work well in most scenarios, at least 1 or 2GB (2 being better) and a P4, couple of NICs, is fine for a test / home installation.
