Replacing one half of an ASG 220 HA cluster?

Hi all.
I have an active/passive cluster of version 1 (512MB) ASG-220s running 7.512 quite happily.  They have maintenance, but I got to wondering the other day what would happen if one died.  It would be replaced, I am sure, but would it automatically be replaced with a newer unit that would not be able to run 7.512?  I'd be kind of up the creek if that happened, since the older unit cannot run 8.x or 9.x, and I believe from my experiences with a new UTM 120 that the new hardware can't run anything earlier than 8.x.

Typo alert: my title said 120, but I meant 220.

TIA,
Brian

  • Brian, if that's a problem, I'm sure you can find an old 220 with 1GB on eBay.  You might want to ask your reseller to get a formal answer from Sophos about how long they intend to have older units as spares.
