trouble with nic driver

I have a motherboard with 2 integrated nics.
One of them is an Atheros.  UTM is not loading the kernel driver for this nic.
I've spent hours trying to compile a driver for it, but it stops me at every turn.  Any suggestions?

    Sorry, i mean the linksys is an access point in another location, connected by ethernet to the firewall.

    New question.

    I have started configuring the vlans as suggested.  I ran into a problem.

    How do I configure the interface so that the default LAN Internal network (with no vlan tagging) has access?

    I cannot see an option to add a vlan interface with the "default" vlan.  So, once I change my Internal interface to vlan mode, I lose all connectivity from the non-tagged hosts.

    I thought vlan-1 was used for this purpose, but when I added a vlan-1 interface to my Internal interface, we still could not connect to it.

    I am not (yet) a vlan expert, so any hints please?
