32bit vs. 64bit. Is there a performance difference with 4Gb RAM?

In this particular case, I'm running the Sophos Suite on a Dual Core Atom with RAM at the maximum this board will take - 4Gb. Is there any significant speed difference between Sophos 32bit vs. 64bit, with 4Gb of RAM?

no but by using 64 bit you'll have access to all 4 gigs..you might not with 32 bit due to 4 gig limitation..[:)]

Is that typically the case with most programs that are written for both 32bit and 64bit at the 4Gb of RAM level?

theres not many 64 bit native programs yet..BUt the os can use it..and that's the crucial part. if you have 4 gigs i would advise 64 bit.
