u2d 8.307 breaking internet connection

IBM X330 1U Server with dual Intel Xenon CPU of 2.4mhz with software ASG running 8.306:

When I try to update to 8.307 the update appears to run fine but any attempt to connect to the internet post update simply times out:  The external interface is connected to a BT home hub and ADSL connection. The PC on the same hub works fine.  I've tried installing twice now with the same result; Also tried u2d 8.308 to see if that "fixed" it, but no joy: Sticking on 8.306 now:

Does anyone have any idea what might be happening:

    what is the purpose connecting with ADSL through HUB?

    Hi, 

    1. are you using DHCP or PPPoE on the firewall's EXT connection?

    2. what does the Network Interface Status show in the firewall's Network Interfaces section?

    The hub uses DHCP to allocate the IP address, but I've specified manually in the Astaro - I guess that may be an issue:  Interfaces show as up, but when I specify a default gw on both the internal and externals I enforces uplink balancing, which I dont actually need or want.

    Its connected to the hub as there are other devices sharing the ADSL line. These work fine

    Hi,

    1. You don't want to specify a gw on the LAN interface on the firewall.

    2. maybe you've run out of DHCP leases for some reason on the hub; can it be cleared/reset?

    What NICs are you using in your firewall?

    Sadly, I do need to specify gateways on both IF, its just the way our vlan is routed;  I can just tweak the uplink balancing to compensate for the routing I want.

    anyway, I rebuilt from scratch and then pulled in a backup;  u2d 8.307 is now installed and working & 8.308 scheduled.

    I have no idea what the glitch was, but its only a test system;  My concern was that it was a problem that would replicate in live, which is a different (clustered) hardware configuration. I dont think it will, so case closed.

    Hi,

    You should probably use static routes, instead of putting a gateway on your LAN interface.
