Supermicro Motherboard-Please Recommend

Please recommend a "hardware compatible" Supermicro server motherboard (Micro-ATX). I realize that a Dual Core Atom would be fast enough for my needs, but I would prefer "overkill" with a LGA 1155 Micro-ATX server motherboard.

Hi, there's an Asus micro-ATX with that CPU socket mentioned here:

There's a lot of SuperMicro's mentioned in that thread, but most are Atom CPUs.

The SuperMicro motherboard (X9SCM-F) that I am considering is mentioned there. However, it is listed for a previous version (ASL 8.305 on ESXi). Is it safe to assume that this motherboard will work with the latest version?

I am now leaning more toward the D525 Dual Core Intel Atom (SUPERMICRO MBD-X7SPE-HF-D525-O).

Do you think that the Dual Core D525 Intel Atom CPU with 4 GB of memory will have enough power for the following situation?:

1.  Both Antivirus Engines always on.
2.  Four (4) Users (4 PC's accessing the Web at the same time).
3.  Two (2) of the Users streaming video (non-HD video) at the same time.
4.  One (1) User sometimes downloading large files.

it should be more than adequate, but what you haven't advised is what sort of external network connection you use?

Hi,
I've found that my single-core Atom limits traffic through the IPS and Application Detection engine to about 45mbps.

I don't run the HTTP content filter or A/V, but it would be worse if I did.

A dual-core Atom would obviously have more power, but if you're going to have more than 50mbps, or have a DMZ or multiple LANs with lots of intra-LAN traffic, I'd recommend something faster, such as an i3 or recent low-power AMD CPU.

Pretty safe, yes... it is rare to loose support for hardware in Linux unless it is extremely old and/or rare.

The speed of my Internet Service is 25 Mbps. I could pay more to get a higher speed, but I cannot justify the cost of the higher speed.
