ASG 120 issues.

We have a remote office, with an ADSL2 connection.  General synch speed is about 11mbit.

We are having issues with using ASG120 on this connection.

Running on a DSL modem directly, PINGS are good and connection is stable.

If I bridge the modem and connect ASG120, the connection goes 'bad'.
PING times are much more erratic, there is about 3% packet loss and sometimes the connection just drops.

To troubleshoot, I have tried two different DSL modems, (one of which is supplied by the DSL provider).  I have also tried two different ASG120 units, including a brand new one purchased last week.
I have factory reset the ASG120 and applied a new basic configuration.  Same problem.

MTU settings etc are all checked and rechecked.
A line check has been run by the telco.

Anyone have a clue what could be happening?

  • I have indeed seen this before (I'm unfortunate enough to still be stuck with old fashioned DSL at home, and some of the customers are in the same boat)... I found that shutting down both the UTM and the DSL modem would clear an issue sometimes (issue had to do with PPPOE authentication not working ... I think it was due to an issue with the access concentrator, not the UTM software).
