  • The UTM software does not support USB, PCI, PCI-X, PCI-e wireless cards at all.

It does support a range of 3G, etc. cellular (USB) modems though.

  • It seems like maybe the only way to get support for wireless is to run the software virtually, and then the only limitation would be the underlying OS.  Has anyone running ESXi 5 found that any of those cards work?

  • Hi,

I'd recommend buying an Astaro Access Point if you are a home user, or can afford the Wireless Security license.

If not, you can always plug a WiFi AP into a spare NIC (or use a VLAN switch).

Last I checked ESXi 4 & 5 hosts did not support WiFi.

    Tp-link
They have some lan2umts devices for 30 Euro.

    Thanks, Andrew,

The only experience I have is that I set up V8.3 in VMWare Player in my laptop, and the built-in wireless worked flawlessly, relaying other users' wireless requests via a wireless router to the "Standard" mode HTTP Proxy in my laptop.
