Building a machine, will this work?

I need to build a machine that will be able to handle 100 mb connection with IPS on and web filtering.  I need help deciding on the nic cards, I know people recommend Intel, would a double intel card work with this or must I have two individual cards?  I was planning on using a 1U chassis to put it on my rack, but I can only fit one card as far as I know.    For hard drive, I think I will use an 64 gig ssd drive I have laying around.

    Hi,

    A dual-port Intel NIC is fine.

    Make sure the PCIe riser and motherboard are compatible!

    If you want a 1U system, look at SuperMicro's barebones systems on NewEgg.
    They should have at least 2 NICs onboard.

    Note that VLANs are a good alternative to adding lots of NICs.

    A 64GB drive should be OK if you don't plan on keeping logs for a long time. Note that SSDs wear out with lots of writes (logging, etc.); it's hard to say exactly how long one will last.

    100mbps should be OK, but it also depends on how many users, and what features will you be using in Astaro?

    Thanks for the reply, I ended up buying a 2u server chasis, to avoid using riser cards.  I purchased three intel nic's and the server has one.  Planing on doing some dmz's etc. Also I am switching a 1TB drive on my main server with a 3TB drive, so the 1TB going for ASTARO!!!

    Cant wait to build this puppy tomorrow!
