We have GA released Up2Date 8.308 which fixes some final things and polishes the process. You can now one-touch update from ASG 8.308 to UTM 9. 8.308 is now REQUIRED before you can actually begin the migration, if you have had the UTM 9 upgrade sitting on your box you should delete it via the CLI so it will re-download. We will look at the HA/Clustering process, but realistically that will be January before we have a release for that (if then). (See below for more ways to upgrade your cluster/HA installation).
If you have official support, please remember that is the best way to get help during the upgrade with anything you encounter. (An official blog entry on 8.308 is coming shortly).
Update November 23rd
Hi everyone, sorry to keep you waiting and answering questions. (Official customers can always contact support for a real-time status remember). I found myself chained to a dungeon floor (aka meeting rooms) for past few days, but have successfully tunneled out. The unlock we had planned to release was delayed slightly due to our QA identifying a bug which could yield some installations unworkable. We are trying to be extremely cautious here with this process, as we'd very much like to avoid having to make an upgrader re-install (which loses the logs and reports). Remember you can install UTM 9 via CD or Smart installer any time you like - this is ONLY for one-touch upgrading of official appliances.
The push to all appliances was thus delayed (despite some information to the contrary) and only the 220/320's remain unlocked. We will try hard to get this out for all appliances within early next week. For cluster/ha systems, this operation is incredibly complex. In the past, many successfully used our process, but we still had some customers unhappy with the results. As such, we will be taking our time on those installations to really try to minimize the risk (as usually these are our largest customers as well). If you have a cluster / HA system and want to update, again you can break the cluster and do each node via manual install anytime, but our new expectation is to try and get clustering/ha upgrades solved and released sometime in december. Many people are running many tests and scenarios on that here in the trenches.
Update November 12th
We plan to GA release 9.004 tomorrow on November 13th and the plan at this time will be to unlock the remaining appliances for upgrading from 8.306 (or the planned 8.307 soft-release tomorrow as well) to 9.004. We waited a few extra days to unlock so we could land the rest of the appliances on 9.004 which has some bug fixes. Keep in mind (since someone will ask). We will NOT yet unlock the cluster/HA installations. We are doing some more QA on that, as we really want to ensure that will perform correctly.

Update Oct 22nd
Good news, we sent extra whips into the dungeons and made a few examples, and efforts were doubled almost instantly. As such we have started the unlocking of the 220/320 appliances for one-touch migration to UTM 9 today! You should see the option shortly in your 8.306 platform, be patient and give it time to seed a bit. Our developers will monitor this thread for casual observations, for critical events on paid installations, please contact support.

Update Oct 14th
We had a bit of extra QA we wanted to do (in order to make this painless) which pushed back our 220/320 roll out plan (the start of the process in general) to this week. Without any more showstoppers cropping up, we'll begin that process on the 18th of October. If we do last minute delay that again, I'll let you know.
Keep in mind if you are in a true hurry to get to UTM 9 you can just make a backup file and re-install at any time. You will lose your logs and reports in that process, but still it gets you to UTM 9 without waiting for the one-touch upgrade.
Lastly, even with the unlocked process for various appliances, we will do HA/Cluster systems LAST, so if you see a note that your appliance type is ready for one-touch upgrade here in the forums, yet are running in HA/Cluster, you won't be able to do that process until a few weeks more.

Hi, I'd like to take a minute to keep things all in one place, excuse the bullets, I think it will be easier to digest the key points:
- We will have a one-touch migration option (as always) for ASG hardware appliances running 8.306 which will bring them to UTM 9 without the need to re-install / restore a backup manually
- This option will be available only to appliances which are deemed compatible; we have made the decision over the past months since the launch of UTM 9 to drop support for very old models. You can check your model here:MyAstaro Licensing Portal NOTE: We will adjust the wording of the "not recommended" resulting appliances to be a bit more clear, and they are in fact supported fully, however you might have some slower results if you enable new features for UTM 9.
- The 8.306 Up2Date of ASG already includes the necessary mechanics for the one-touch migration process. Approximately 2 weeks after GA (Planned for Sept 20th), we will begin rolling this out by appliance model. Starting with the 220/320 appliances.
- During the following weeks until approximately the end of October, we'll unlock the upgrade for other models until all have been enabled for this operation. (We do this by issuing a special pattern up2date which unlocks the migration for various appliance types).
- We will post here in this thread, along with in the UTM messaging window of WebAdmin itself, when an appliance model has become available to migrate to UTM 9.
