Just tried on ASG hardware (HA,active-passive). After update to 8.306, following appears:
Upgrade to UTM 9
A product upgrade to version 9 will soon be available. To ensure the best upgrade experience, the upgrade will be rolled out in several steps over the next few weeks.
Upgrade on a single Softwareappliance(vmware):
A product upgrade to version 9 is available. However, due to the complexity of supporting all kinds of hardware that are currently running ASG Version 8, an automatic upgrade is only available for Astaro Hardware Appliances.
Nonetheless we encourage you to manually upgrade to UTM 9, which comprises the following steps:
Make a backup and save it outside your ASG.
Download UTM 9 and install it.
Import the backup into UTM 9.
