9.001018 on MS Virtual PC

Hi everyone,

I experienced a problem on my test vm. After the update from 9.000-8 to 9.001-18 the vm does not start anymore. The errormessage on the console is 

...

waiting for device /dev/disk/by-label/root to appear......Could not find /dev/disk/by-label/root

Want me to fallback to /dev/disk/by-id/ata_virtual_hd-part6 [Y/n]

...


and thats it. It falls back to simple shell. This happens with the manual installed soft release and also with up2date that was delivered today.

Does anyone have an idea, or is Virtual PC (W7 32bit) just not supported anymore (or was it never supported and worked by accident up to this release?)

    The vm is detected as hyper-v according to the log. It seems some drivers have been changes in 9.001-18. All v8 and v9 versions worked with virtual pc for me.

    What is a recommended desktop virualisation environment for utm9?

    For desktop virtualisation virtualbox did a good job on V8. But since V9 is with Linux kernel 3.x virtualbox needs further development to get machines working which uses kernels behind 2.6.x. however it could be implemented in an experimental way....


    Since Windows 8 will come with Hyper-V 3 on desktops, not only windows server anymore, this would be the best way and is out in a few days on msdn accounts or technets.

    I`ve found out that VM Ware Player 4.0.4 works fine with 9.001-18 for me to play around with the utm9 features. I used Suse Linux as vm machine type.
