Astaro 120 started locking up, unaccessible

Hi folks,

Strangest thing happened last night.  I have a client with a 120 and I got a few emails from it last night at 6:30pm:

1.  Connection went up and down (expected with a restart)
2.  The device was rebooted reason being Up2Date.
3.  About 4 minutes later the spam filter wasn't running and was restarted.

What is very strange about this?  I didn't schedule any up2dates to install.  Also, it was at 8.304 in the last backup config email and it is still at that version now.

At 1am this morning I was made aware that the network was unreachable.  The astaro had become completely unresponsive at some time during the evening.  Email shows that this happened sometime after 4pm yesterday.  The only way to reset the device was by a hard reset.  When that was done, the device came back up.  However, 1 hour later it locked up again and was unreachable.  When we did the hard reset again, it didn't come up.

Now, the device doesn't seem to want to start.  Any ideas?

    Sounds like dead hardware to me ... I saw the same thing happen the last time I had one fail at a customer site... wierd reboot with the same wierd message.  If you want, connect up a monitor and keyboard to the device and see if you see any error messages during the boot.  I'd start a support case with Astaro, it's probably a candidate for replacement.

    Definitely something going on in the hardware.  It has been RMA'd and the office is running on a linksys for the day.

    Very known behavior if HDD is damaged. RMA was the right thing to do...
