Astaro UTM 120 Installation Procedure

Hi I'm a new Astaro user. I have a UTM120 device, just setting it up today to test. Does anyone have a document or procedure for the setup of the firewall for a small business. Something that has a simple checklist of items to setup for web security, network security on a simple network maybe with a dialup SSL VPN and Site to site VPN to another remote firewall? If you do email me a copy , I wil keep it confidential and email you a revised copy with any improvements that I make in the future.

Is there a best practice PDF guide that Astaro gives with this type of procedure?

Hi, Erik, and welcome to the User BB!

I think your best bet is to turn to your reseller for help.  There are too many issues to take into consideration when designing a configuration.  I would estimate $500 to $1,000 based on your description.

If you need free help, then the best we can do here is to tell you about the most-common mistakes newbies make.  When running the initial installation wizard, you must assign a hostname that is an FQDN resolvable in public DNS.  Later, when creating Nework/Host definitions, never bind one to an interface, always leave 'Interface: >'.

Just following the manual, you should get an acceptable working setup in a day.  Over the next several months, you'll be able to experiment and learn; at some point, you may decide to do a factory reset and set it up from scratch.
