11 Mbit connect drops to 5mbit behind Astaro

So I've been getting an install of Astaro up and running and have been tweaking various settings. Today I ran a speed test behind Astaro and was surprised at how drastic the speed of my internet connection was reduced. Prior to installing, when running a speed test at speakeasy.net/speedtest, I was getting speeds over 11Mbit / sec. Earlier today when I tested it, the best speed I could get was 4.8Mbit / sec.

I am running Astaro from a Virtual Machine (VMWare ESXi); however, it has over 50% free ram and when running the speed test was only using 2-3% cpu. 

Is this typical for Astaro? Or did I do something wrong while installing / configuring?

    Hi, if you're using the http proxy / content filter, the test won't be reliable because of the way the caching and anti-virus work.

    Disabling the proxy should give measurements closer to your full bandwidth.
