New ASG machine

I'm running ASG 8.303 on a Dell Dimension 4700, P4, 2.8GHz, 2GB RAM, 80GB SATA HDD. I am getting repeated pgstat errors from postegre. I have run ASG for several major versions on varying hardware without these issues and nobody else seems to be getting them. So it looks like it's pointing to hardware. Although it SHOULDN'T be, which irritates me to no end.
So I'm looking to build a new ASG machine. I will be running at least 3 interfaces (maybe a 4th) and have to use the WebSecurity proxy but just for a few users. It won't be handling any FiOS VOD (it has had problems with it in the past). I'm thinking of using an Intel i3 CPU with 2-4GB RAM and a SATA (maybe SSD) HDD. Does anyone have any suggestions for a motherboard that they like? One with a pair of Gbit ethernet ports would be nice.

    Hi, try running memtest86 on your Dell to test for hardware problems. It should be available as an option when booting from the Astaro installation CD.

    I bought a used ASG220. The hard disk has been wiped. Is there any way to install the 'hardware ISO' on it? The installation stops when running the 'local scripts'. I understand the installation depends on the presence of a 'key' on the hard disk. This unit is for personal use at home and I don't have a paid license. - Is there any solution?

    Just an idea ... why not build a VMWARE server using ESXi (that's free) check the HCL tho, or just load ESXi and see if it runs.....ESXi likes a "approved" disk controller and INTEL type ethernet, otherwise it JUST runs ... then use a Proven ASTARO VMWare appliance ?????

    THAT'S an idea I hadn't thought of. I don't like the idea of overcomplicating something I'd like to be reliable, but it can't hurt to try.
    I'm going to install a new HDD in the machine and see if that has any effect on stability first. But, failing that, I'll give the ESXi bit a try.

    I see that there are 2 8.3 files in the virtual_appliance directory on the ftp server. WHich one do I need? asg-8.300-esx-v4.zip or asg-8.300-vmware.zip? I'm downloading the ESXi v4.1 now.
    My ethernet cards are Intels too.
