How do I increase the swap partition?

I am preparing to upgrade the hardware on my ASG 8.301 from 1g ram to 2g.  My swap is currently 1g as well.  Following general rules of thumb for *nix based boxes under 4g of ram, I'd like to up the swap to 2g as well.

While I have done this sort of operation from the command line before, its been a while.  I keep regular backups of my configs etc, but I rally don't want to rebuild the entire box.  I don't recall, but I think the swap size was set automatically when I installed ASG (8.0 I think).

Can anyone provide me some step by step instructions on how to do this?

    I have 2 gig of ram and from the install only 1 gig of swap was created. You should not need to touch that swap. Just add the ram and enjoy. My swap by the way is never used with 2 gig and I use IPS, MAIL proxy, NAT, Incoming rules, Web Proxy SSL VPN and a few others. It's a Home Use lic.

    Well that is a relief.  Mine is a home license as well.  I think I've been seeing an uptick in IPS activity, and that's been causing some minor performance issues.  Since RAM is cheap I figured I'd just get it taken care of right away.  I guess I'll give it a go and if I still see issues I'll delve further into expanding the swap at a later date.

    1 gig of ram isn't enough for astaro 8.3 and for utm9 it's going to be worse.  I would:
    1.  increase ram to 4 gig(3 at the minimum)
    2.  make a configuration backup
    3.  reinstlal using 64 bit kernel
    4.  restore configuration
    5.  enjoy new system performance now and in the future without having to worry about excessive swap usage.

    I'll be sure to take note of this.  I just dropped the 2nd gig in and its already a very obvious difference.  Even in the webadmin.
