v8.3 Install hangs when restoring from backup of V7.511

Hi All,

Have spent the past week or two trying to figure out what is wrong with this situation.

I have already upgraded a testbed machine of ours from V7.509 to V8.

The problem here now lies where I am trying to upgrade our main firewall which is a bespoke machine and has 2GB ram and approx 120GB usable HDD space.

I first, take a backup of my installation on V7.511 and save it on my local machine.

Next, I shut the machine down and connect a brand new HDD, on this HDD I install V8.3 from a newly burnt disc.

All sets up and installs fine until I log in using the details i specified in the setup steps where I enter company info, etc.

When I try to upload the V7 Backup file onto the V8 machine it hangs and hangs and hangs. Eventually timing out.

I have tried this numerous times with different internet browsers. IE hardly worked at all.

Tried Chrome and Firefox but all still hang.

Everytime this messes up I have fully re-install V8 again.

Please help.

    Hi everyone, just thought I'd let you know that I sorted it in the end.

    It seems that V8 shuffles the NICs and we had to find out which was actually which connection.

    We also planted a V7 backup file on a USB drive and the install picked it up automaticaly and restored it for us during setup. [:)]
