vers 7 to 8

Hello,

I finally had some time today to upgrade my gateway machine fro vers 7 to version 8. Ive been using ASG for awhile but cannot workout option to upgrade FW.

I try putting in my licwnce for ver 7 but that comes up invalid yet cant get this to install & rverything else is confusing.

If anyone has done this from 7 to 8 would you mind filling in the blanks for us please

    you don't HAVE to re-install.  Firs you DO need to upgrade to 7.5x.  then you need to goto my astaro and upgrade to the new license scheme.  Then make a backup after installing new license.  Upgrade to v8..make another config backup.  Then let the machine download all the updates to v8.300.  Once it has then you can let it upgrade to 8.3.

    However make sure you have at least 2 gigs of ram for 8.3 and upcoming versions..otherwise your machine is going to chug badly just trying to operate under v8.3 much less perform the upgrade.

    The faster way...but this means the loss of your reports...is to first goto my astaro and upgrade to new license scheme.  Install new license..upgrade to v8.00.  make config backup.  Then using an 8.300 cd reload from scratch and after that install new license.

    minimum realistic requirements for astaro v8(considering the upcoming v9 beta and beyond) 1.6 ghz cpu. 2 gigs of ram.  40 gig hdd.  These are bare minimums.  I would talk to your reseller(if you have one) for more details.
