Virtual Applicances versions

What is the difference between the asg-8.300-esx-v4.zip and the asg-8.300-vmware.zip Virtual Appliance?

esx is an OVF-Template, vmware is a vmx file. It would be great if this could be documented somewhere.

    Hi. I used to use those, but found that creating a blank VM and inserting the ISO is much more friendly and allows you to set whatever disk size you want.

    One issue I was having with the "out of the box images" was the predefined IP address. I had to log in as root and set it and set default gateway. Since I had to use the console for that, I thought to just install it and set like 10Gigs disk space or something other than the 80Gig disk it comes with.
