How do I go about upgrading 7.5xx HA-clusters to 8.x

I've got two ASG 7.5xx production HA-clusters, one hot-standby cluster and one active-active cluster I want to upgrade to v8.3 (8.3xx) running on Dell PowerEdge servers.

I've also got a (licenced&supported) virtual HA-hot-standby-cluster in staging/test that runst 7.5xx.

Is there a doc on best practice/best way to do an upgrade this with as little downtime as possible?

  • You will need to generate any required reports ahead of time.  With WinSCP and private & public RSA keys, you can allow 'root access but only sith SSH key' and copy off any desired logs.  If you feel like you might want to have access to everything in the future, you might want to remove the existing hard drive in one unit and replace it with a new one.

Along the lines suggested by Angelo, you might find this useful: Upgrade HA to 64-bit.
