How do I go about upgrading 7.5xx HA-clusters to 8.x

I've got two ASG 7.5xx production HA-clusters, one hot-standby cluster and one active-active cluster I want to upgrade to v8.3 (8.3xx) running on Dell PowerEdge servers.

I've also got a (licenced&supported) virtual HA-hot-standby-cluster in staging/test that runst 7.5xx.

Is there a doc on best practice/best way to do an upgrade this with as little downtime as possible?

  • With ASG appliances, you can do upgrades-in-place to V8, but you will need to load from CDROM.

Is it possible for you to schedule outtages for this?  What subscriptions do you have?  Are your reporting databases and log files important to you?

  • Yeah I don't have any appliances..
It would be nice to have the reports and logs, but I guess I can make a copy of the logs and archive them someplace else, but don't know how to keep the reporting db.
I will have to schedule an outtage for sure, hopefully not a very long one.. We have a maintenance window more or less each month I can use if I report my need in time.
