weird hardware issue

I have a friend i am trying to get astaro stup on.  It is an emachines box with a semron 3300 and 2 gigs of ram.  two intel interfaces and one linksys interface.  I've already had to remove a realtek that locked hte box up.  Now whenever we try to configure internal groups the machine locks up.  It works fine everywhere else.  I've never seen anything like this.  I guess astaro doesn't like that hardware.  once i can get into the logs i'll know more.

    That is wierd.  Have you tried an exhaustive RAM test?  Or maybe different RAM?

    changed the ram totally..[[[:)]]]  I'm thinking this box and astaro aren't going to get along..[[[:)]]]  I had that happen before just not in this way...  I've got a dell server that's going in there next..[[[:)]]]

    FWIW, In my limited experience with eMachines, I noticed that they use extremely cheap motherboards and chipsets.

    it's not via stuff but all amd.  Most of the time is their bioses..i'm not blaming astaro it is most assuredly something with the hardware..which is why i am sending my sc420 over there.  I decomed it a year ago when i converted to my new ECC platform and it ran 8.x before i decomed it without a problem.  I purchased it specifically for ASL 4.0..[:)]

    I got my old trusty sc420 that ran Astaro from v4 to v8.xx and gave that to my friend.  machine is still up.  Something with the bios of that emac box isn't kosher with Astaro...it loves Linux mint though..[[:)]]  That emac is now being donated with mint to a local charity.  The old sc420 is once again in service protecting yet another network..[[:)]]

    i got a via box and is working fine for many years now...

    may be emachines then?
