Configuring Up2Date to download overnight

Hi,

Is there any way to restrict the Up2date downloads to a certain time range? I've found the option to control how frequently it looks for updates, but I'd like to restrict it to overnight when there's less demand on the Internet connection.

Using ASG 8.300, home license.

    You could disable automatic U2D downloads via WebAdmin and create a cronjob by using the shell as root user to call 'audld.plx' and 'auisys.plx --nosys' at night. This won't survive ASG reimaging, though.

    Hi, gilester, and welcome to the User BB!

    Updates are fairly rare, so I'm not sure you gain much.

    Pattern updates occur frequently, and, if you're using anti-virus or Intrusion Prevention, you probably want to get those as soon as possible after they're issued.  These tend to be small packages, so there should be no noticiable effect on available bandwidth.

    Hi Bob,

    Thanks for the information, I'll leave the pattern updates checking on a regular basis. The realtime transparent scanning features of the Astaro are the primary reason I'm investigating using it, so I would agree it'd be a bit nonsensical to delay pattern updates.

    the up2dates don't get sent through the http proxy so there's no need to worry about them loading up your box.  Also up2dates ae done in the background so they won't chug up your inet connection unless your bandwidth is really anemic.  My slowest client connection is 3mbs and my client has not complained if an up2date occurs during business hours.
