adding expresscard nic

Hi 
I have an Lenovo S10e notebook I would like to use as an ASG home setup.
I need to use the expresscard slot for the second nic.

Has anyone had succes with such a setup?

What  expresscard-nic have you used and where to buy ?

    Hi, if it's a mini-PCIexpress slot, than any NIC with a supported chipset should work.

    Intel tend to work best, but most Realtek models and many other brands are supported.

    It's not a mini pci-express but a expresscard (34-pin) external card.



    Im not sure that the installation will initialize all manufacturers cards.
    I have looked at the compability list but to be honest it got me a little confused [:S]

    So I wonder if anyone has setup a ASG installation on af notebook / laptop with a expresscard nic as second nic [[:)]]

    You can find out easily by yourself if your hardware is supported or not. Plug in your NIC, boot the notebook from the ASG image and before any installation action starts to modify your notebook the installation routine shows the recognized hardware in a list view. CPU, HDD and so on and, of course, the NIC's. If they are supported, they will be listed.

    It looks like we're both right.
    ExpressCard - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    ExpressCards can be USB or PCIe.
    So, if the NIC you're looking at uses USB, it won't work. If PCIe, see my earlier comment.

    @gsxfan -The problem whas that I hadnt bought the nic so I was interrested in buying the right nic the first time[[:)]] - but thaks for the info

    @Barry - your right. It was a PCIe - Did a little extra research and came to the same conclusion.

    @both - Checked the compatibility list again and found out that the Marvell Yukon Chipset would work.

    So I have bought a Belkin 1 Gigabit expresscard running this chipset, and it did the trick [[:)]] - Belkin Gigabit Ethernet ExpressCard™ F5U250
