Upgrading ASG120 6.00 to 8.200

Is it still possible for me to configure the box and pull the system up2date for the v6.00 firmware via the internet?

Updates that old are no longer available on the up2date servers.

Is it possible for me to go direct to v8.200 via imaging from USB External CD-Drive

A config-backup from your current system will definitely not work with v8.  It may or may not work with more recent versions of 7.5x.  If your 120 has less than 1GB of RAM, you will want to install 7.511 and stop there, as V8 requires a minimum of 1GB.  If it does have 1GB, then you can install 8.20x.  Either way, the whole process would most likely be less problematic to skip attempting to restore a v6 config-backup and to reconfigure from scratch.

Problem is my ASG120 has only 256 MB of RAM. And when I open up the box, it is running on SD-RAM (which is quite ancient)

I have no issue with the configuration being wiped out because I intended to configure the box from scratch.

I actually intended to download the v7/v8 ISO and then wipe out everything inside.

Can I have the link where I can refer to the system requirement of each ASG version?

I think you will have a hard time upgrading beyond 512mb.

Also to go beyond about v7.5 you will need a new licence or at least regenerate your current licence.

Probably easier to buy a complete small PC and add an extra NIC.

Unless you can get more RAM into your box, you may be best off just sticking where you are   at.  With only 256MB, newer versuions are not going to run well, even with most features turned off.

i am running this box with only 1 user...
so technically it should be fine no? i shall find out myself soon enough [[:D]]

i managed to up-ed the RAM to 512 MB now...

You can install and it should work. But you won't have fun with RAM & CPU consuming features like HTTP-Proxy, WAF or IPS. Simple NAT & Firewalling should be ok, though.

Add an SSD and manually re-partition to increase SWAP area [:)]

Honestly?  I would get a new box with 2 gigs of ram and head for 8.203(not 8.3).  If youa re 1 user your setup should not be hard to duplicate manually.
