Advice for virtualization

Hello,
I'd like to make some tests in a virtual environment. Can anyone give me an adivice for the VM? It seems that most of people use esxi (I read that it is a supported platform). Other used (free) solutions?

Thanks

  • AMD....i'm not surprised vm's didn't perform well.  AMD is unfortunately in it's own p-4 ditch right now.  Intels are the only cpu's i will use for a vm host of any kind not just hyper-v.

Same here. During last year's testing when preparing for virtualization I tried a Dell-Machine with AMD and performance was really poor comparing to Intel equivalents.
@gsxfan:  Hyper-V server is the free bare-metal hypervisor version.  Microsoft Hyper-V Server | Virtualization | Virtual

Thanks for info, Scott. I will give it a try when our three ESXi's are completely populated.
