Installing ASG 120 but Can't connect to it

I have an ASG 120 and it has a network address of 192.168.50.1

I want to connect to it and configure it but I can't seem to connect. I don't have a VGA cable so I can't connect to it like it's a computer so I'm just connecting to it from a laptop and configuring the laptop

router 192.168.50.1
computer 192.168.50.50
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
dns 192.168.50.1

I know that DHCP is not turned on on the ASG 120

The ASG is running some earlier version of 7

Is it because I'm not using a crossover cable, that I can't connect to it? Do I need a crossover cable to use the ASG 120?

    Yes, if you don't connect via a switch, you need a crossover cable.

    Yes, if you don't connect via a switch, you need a crossover cable.

    Most Astaro appliance hardware has auto sensing Ethernet ports. Please see if the link light on your appliance is on.

    I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't get to it. 

    I also tried just putting it on my network which is a 192.168.2.X network to see if there is some way to connect to it. I suppose, since it is setup as 192.168.50.1 that I won't be able to. Is that right?

    Is there a way to reset it to factory default, so I can be sure what IP address I need to connect to it? Or maybe is there a way to connect to it using the MAC address?
