switches between Internet and ASGs

We have two ASG 220s in an HA config. We recently got a second Internet connection for further redundancy. Right now I am distributing the Internet connections to the ASGs using two generic, un-managed switches until I get something better, which leads me to my questions:

1. Any suggestions on a particular brand/model switch that would work well for this situation when used in conjunction with the ASGs?

2. In this situation, how important is it to use an un-managed switch vs. a managed switch?

3. Any pitfalls to be wary of?

Morning,

1) Pretty much any major name brand (Cisco, HP, DLink) should do you well. We went with HP Procurve switches because the price & lifetime warranty was better then Cisco, and HP's console offers both a command mode (like Cisco) and a menu driven mode which imho is easier to use.

2) It comes down to your environment. I've used both unmanaged and managed switches on our internet connections. The two main advantages of managed switches are (a) you can manually control the speed/duplex settings of the ports and (b) you can create VLANs within the managed switches which reduces how many unmanaged switches you have lying around.
