UTM Throughput

Hello,

I have a little question about the UTM Throughput of the ASG220. On the datasheet, it wrote that there are a 95 mbps UTM Throughput. Is that correct ? I don't have a ASG220 for test the UTM performence..

I ask that because sonicwall says the TZ210 has 50mbps UTM Throughput..... but in reality it has 18 mbps UTM Throughput..

A customer has a connection at 60mbps and I don't know wich model bought. It's just for 7 servers.

Thank in advance.

  • The true throughput is highly dependent on what features are enabled, how they are configured, etc.  Enabling IPS, Web Content Filtering, etc. has an effect on what the true throughput values are -- so it's hard to say in your case, as we don't know anything about the configuration, etc.

  • The features enabled are :
    - WAF (with all protection activated)
    - IPS
    - web content filtering for the antirivus/antimalware with dual scan

It's only to protect her web server.

    Thank for your response BrucekConvergent
  • If you're only using Web Application Security and the Intrusion Prevention capability of Network Security, then a 220 would seem to be a good choice.  I suspect it would be a good investment to buy a second 220 to run in Hot-Standby.

If you're a new reseller, I suggest you submit the question to Astaro Support - they should have some skin in the game.  If not, then you should ask your reseller for a recommendation.

    Cheers - Bob

  • I'd like to add that if you are going to buy a second unit for hot-standby, you would only need to purchase a second appliance and would not need to buy a second license.  Inexpensive for the piece of mind it affords.
