Hyper-V Astaro 8.201 not booting up

Hi,

Hardly wanted to use Astaro as Guest on Hyper-V also I know its not (yet?) really supportet...

Anyway i found this: Hyper V Drivers for Astaro

Also nessesary for using non legacy (synthetic) NICs, wich would be great...but its worse:

After configureing the VM and booting it up, it stops on hardware detection ans says no network adapters found. So well I reconfigured the VM and choose "old network interfaces" (for supporting os without guest drivers also called legacy NICs). I also deleted all other things like "heartbeat" "timesync" etc in the common frame. After that the installation completes and wants to reboot.

But on reboot, the VM hangs on wont boot up completly as seen on screenshot attached. really it does nothing, I waited 2 hours, nothing....also it would be like a bad joke if I have to restart the ASG and need to wait that time to boot it up...

So how can i fixe this? I thoudght Hyper V was added with 8.2xx relaese. Also the synthetic NICs are not working so the Networkspeed will also be quite low...

It's really time for adding Hyper-V support...

    Are there different drivers included in the newly released iso?
    Possibly.  The 8.200 and possibly the 8.201 (depending on when/how you installed it) code that you are running is soft-release.  I've done 8.174-->8.200, 8.103-->8.200 (soft-release and GA), and am now running 8.201 installed from ISO.  So far I've found the direct from ISO to be the least problematic of the bunch.  Re-install would allow the "hardware" to be redetected and the GA drivers would be utilized right from the start.

    This is one interesting thread [:)]

    I'm running Astaro on Hyper-V since more than a year now, even with unsupported versions. I had no real problems with it, only had to use the "old" NIC type for Astaro to recognize them and the link status wasn't shown correctly in the dashboard.

    After updating my installation to 8.200/8.201 I noticed the new VMBUS boot messages, but there weren't any notices of old drivers in the eventlog. Several users in here recommended to do a fresh install, but the ISO wasn't available at that time.

    Since Friday I have a new Internet connection with a 32 Mbps downlink and my Astaro installation didn't manage to transfer more than approx. 18 Mbps with IPS and QoS active (CPU was running at 100%). I stopped IPS and QoS and it became better (~25 Mbps) but not good at all. My old Internet connection only had 6 Mbps so I didn't hit this performance limits [[;)]]

    Next, I did a fresh install from the 8.201 ISO, to be on the safe side I gave it a second virtual CPU. During installation it already showed it had recognized that it was running under Hyper-V. It recognized the new type NICs, too. Installation and restore of my configuration worked without any problems. Link status is now shown correctly.

    My new installation also shows the driver warnings in the Microsoft eventlog, it says:
    Der Netzwerktreiber auf "ASG_8.201" wurde geladen, besitzt jedoch eine andere Version als der Server. Serverversion: 3.2, Clientversion: 0.2 (ID des virtuellen Computers: "A6CAA8C6-8BA2-4B98-AB36-E55B56A33C56"). Das Gerät ist funktionsfähig, es handelt sich jedoch um eine nicht unterstützte Konfiguration. Dies bedeutet, dass bis zum Beheben des Problems kein technischer Support zur Verfügung gestellt wird. Aktualisieren Sie die Integrationsdienste, um das Problem zu beheben. Stellen Sie für die Aktualisierung eine Verbindung mit dem virtuellen Computer her, und wählen Sie im Aktionsmenü "Installationsdatenträger für Integrationsdienste einlegen" aus.

    This doesn't sound any good for a software with official Hyper-V support [[;)]]

    Back to my performance problem: my new installation manages the full 32 Mbps with active IPS while CPU usage is below 20%. When I switch on QoS performance drops instantly but CPU is still not the problem (in fact: I have no clue what the problem is at all).

    Hi Bastian,
    try turning of the downlink optimiser on your external interface.

    While I only run a 4-5mb/s ADSL service it did make a difference, I gained about 500k of extra download speed.
