Don't overestimate the problems discussed here. Some of the problems are very specific and only happens in a few situations - but I also understand disappointed poeple which are experiencing issues. Overall it's a good release - not perfect, but really good.

If you are heavily Webproxy dependent, or have Astaro Wireless with separate zone networks in usage or Intel NICs in your Appliance, it's maybe safer to stick on 8.103 for the moment to avoid possible issues. I expect 8.202 fixing most of the remaining issues.

I personally like 8.2a lot [:D] As always tons of new, cool features and very fast. Happily I'm not experiencing any of those discussed issues (except of the separate zone wireless issue). But I'm sure this will be fixed soon too.

I have to disagree........I'm not going to beat the horse any further though.  Astaro needs to concentrate on fixing bugs right now...however 8.3 which is upcoming is going to be another new feature release....until they slow down and stabilize things the issues are going to continue

Wasn't 8.2 or 8.201 considered a high priority update. Since the ASG is a security device I assume a high priority update 'needs' to be installed. If it's new features or minor fixes then it should be marked as so. This last batch of updates seems to just reinforce the caution of people that are still on 7.x. I used to consider Astaro updates to be the safest to install, not so much today.

When an up2date package is available to install (downloaded), in WebAdmin>>Management>>Up2Date>>Overview Tab, you can click on the blue button next to the up2date package listing to see what is in it.  From that you can decide if you want it or not.

@ Michael_A, It is generally considered a good practice to run a version or two behind the latest and greatest, that way most of the bugs are sorted out before you put it in production.

It is usually safe to upgrade to the next version on the same branch, so if you were on 8.1, 8.101,8102 etc would be safe and usually fix bugs in that particular branch. However when you move to the next branch like 8.2, you may experience newer bugs. Therefore always look for posts by William[:D] or Bruce or one of the moderators and more than likely they will have something good or bad to say about the current release before taking the plunge.

You don't even have to look for posts by mods or wizards.  Just do a quick scans for issues anyone is experiencing with a new version.  

Another good source of information is the known issues list at Index of /lists.  This is not a complete list, but contains definable larger issues that Astaro has been able to replicate.

I think I will wait to update from 8.103, in my situation the new features are not very interesting, I will wait for official implementation of both endpoint security and local cf database... (hoping I have not to wait for 8.3xx! [:D]). Does anyone has "sniffed" some infos about the final version in which they will be added to gui?

Endpoint Security will be out before 8.300.  As far as Local content DB, unknown, but probably not in the short term based on a post by Angelo.
