Nope, you won't be able to install tools. The 2 vCPU and 1 GB RAM will be good enough, but more RAM would be better. 1GB is the minimum recommended for Astaro at this point.

...still have a v5 install disk in a box somewhere.
I have used 7.x software appliance till now experimentally as xen fully virtualized domains, it worked well in a simple tested situations (except the jumbo frames).
I want to use 8.2 for production purposes now. But I cannot get 8.2 to work - by the installation under Xen after the detection of network interfaces (they are detected OK) the installation program hangs with the following last error message on the screen nr. 4:
user.info kernel: bootstrap[1902]: segfault at 0 ip b733b885 sp bf8e2898 error 4 in libc-2.11.1.so[b72c6000+15b000]
before this message there are only the messages about the detected NICs.
The addresses in the message change during multiple reboots if the startup parameters are changed.
I have tried to start it with the parameters
default nosmp vga=normal nolapic noapic
or partially with each and no success. I have also tried to turn off apic acpi and pae off in the Xen config file and still no success. Using Xen 4.0 Open Source under Debian Squeeze, standard last Debian Xen packages and kernel
Does anybody have a clue what to do next?
Like written, on the same the ASG 7.2 runs without problems. with 8.0 and 8.1 I had other problems (there were not detected the NICs, but hoped paravirtualization support will be implemented in 8.2 like anounced (is not)... Anyway, I think, it should be possible to isntall 8.2 with hvm... IF somebody uses 8.x under xen, what is your configurations of the virtual host? Any pointer will be appreciated..
