I'm a home-astaro user (free software applicance) for several days now and I've gotten the hang of it so far. Now I want to exchange the 2,5" hdd in my self-built ITX PC.
I thought, this should be easy:
- Backup
- exchange hdd
- install ASG
- restore backuped config
- done
but I see one problem... well I don't know if it actually is a problem:
My current version:
Version information
Firmware version: 8.103
Pattern version: 22669
Last check: 14 minutes ago
My install disc is 8.102. Well, I thought I'll download the new image and install using that but, 8.102 is still the newest image available, as far as I can see:
ftp://ftp.astaro.com/Astaro_Security_Gateway/v8/software_appliance/iso/
Now.... what do I do? Questions:
[LIST=1]
- Can I restore a config that has been generated using 8.103 to a 8.102 system?
- Can I generally restore from a backup of a newer system to an older/freshly installed one?
- what alternative do I have?
I can't imagine that I would have to manually setup gateway and routing so the ASG can update before actually throwing the config backup at it so I'm quite certain the backup will work BUT, I wanted to be sure. Took me quite a while as a newbie to get the gateway up and running so I don't want to spend all night on redoing everything manually just because I didn't make sure before.
Any advice appreciated, thanks guys!
