How to enable Gigabit on a dual-nic?

Because of the physical placement of the Astaro gateway and my WHS, I installed a Intel 1000MT Pro Dual-port Gigabit NIC to use in bridge mode so that the Astaro box and WHS will reside beside each other, and the rest of the computers and switch elsewhere.

The problem I'm having now though is that the Bridge I created with the dual-nic is apparently not connected at Gigabit speeds, as the connection is maxing out around 44Mbps. When the WHS was connected directly to the switch, I could easily get 600Mbps+ on the gigabit enabled computers.

So the obvious question is, how do I enable to the dual-nic/Bridge on the Astaro box run at gigabit speeds?

    Tested with just the firewall active:

    Averages around 97Mbps

    Tested with firewall, Web proxy, and IM/P2P control active (none of which should affect the transfer speed on the LAN):

    Averages around 97Mbps

    Tested with firewall, Web proxy, IM/P2P control, and IPS:

    Averages around 49.5Mbps


    So apparently the IPS is causing the speed to drop by half, even though its traffic on the internal network going across the bridge. But even without IPS enabled, I'm still getting no where near the speeds I was getting before with the WHS connected directly to the switch.

    I may just go ahead and buy the 200' of outdoor Cat5e to keep the WHS and Astaro in their current location if the speed cannot be fixed. I could use the 2nd port on the dual port nic to connect a AP/switch I have laying around for more WiFi coverage.

    [edit] Btw, the reason I wanted to try to get iperf on the Astaro box is to see if the dual port nic is even capable of transferring at gigabit speeds to its individual side of the network at all. I can already see that it doesn't transfer across the bridge at gigabit speeds, so the transfer rate test between the WHS and my computer on the other side of the network didn't show me much other then IPS and the speeds I already knew it was transferring at. [:(] [/edit]
