Virtual MAC Address issues

hey guys, I'm having issues with my ASG and the virtual MAC withing 8.2. We took a massive lightning strike that took out my ASG (software ver) unit. I was able to restore it to a different hardware box and got the LAN side working again however I'm having issues with the MAC address on my WAN NIC. 

I had v8.103 running on the original box prior to the lighting. I restored that to a new box then tried to change the MAC on the NIC via the command line. As far as the command line was concerned the MAC had been changed, however ASG didn't recognize it. I read that virtual MACs were available in 8.2 and i upgraded to that and changed the MAC there but the NIC is still sending its original MAC (I verified this with my ISP, and their the whole reason i need the MAC changed int he first place...)

Anybody else run into this? Could it be a bug? 

I plan on reinstalling a fresh copy og ASG on a different box tomorrow and trying the virtual MAC. I will report back what i find.

    Hi Guys,
    So i tried on a variety of NICs and what i found was that Most Intel NICs will work a select set of Marvel NICs on PC MoBo's work, other wise a lot of them don't. I have a bunch of Netgear, and 3Com NIC (which i was trying to use during my first posting) that don't like the way astaro does the virtual MAC. They seem to take the change when doing it in Ubuntu and CentOS command line but not the way Astaro is implementing it... Didn't have any Broadcom NICs available to try.

    Lesson learned... just stick with Intel NICs
