thinking of updating my internet, will my astaro box cope?

Currently I am on virign media 50mb down 5mb up service.

soon 100mb down 10mb up is coming to my area and I am considering updating.

Astaro box specs:
2.66Ghz Celeron
40GB hard drive
2gb Memory
WAN: eth0 [3Com Corporation 3c905C-TX/TX-M [Tornado]]
INTERNAL: eth1 [ADMtek NC100 Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet 10/100]
2nd INTERNAL: eth2 [Intel Corporation 82562EZ 10/100 Ethernet Controller]

im thinking that to take advantage of 100mbs download speed I may have to replace the network cards with gigabit capable ones, apart from that will that machine be able to cope ok with it?

You shouldn't have a problem. I ran V7, with web content filter, on a junky Dell Dimension 2400 Celeron with 1Gig and a 40Gig HD. Worked like a champ.
Astaro has some fairly low overhead considering everything it does.

Your system should work fine. Replacing the NICs with some Intel Gb cards is not a bad idea. They aren't "necessary", but the increased cache, hardware assists and spare bandwidth they offer may help smooth out the flow when being accessed by multiple people / devices.

it really depends on what features you are using. 100 megabits shouldn't be a problem or 20 or so users unless you ahve everything turned on..[:)]

Thanks for replying, vm haven't rolled out the update here yet.

when it is available I will just update, at worst I have to replace/update the machine.
