[8.103] Has the license been changed in 8.103 update?

Hi everyone,

I have ASG 8 Home Licensed and recently updated to 8.103. After the update the following features are no longer available. Has the license schema changed in 8.103? I used those features on the daily basis in 8.102.

Network Security 

Status: disabled
Exp. Date: not licensed
Description: This subscription enables the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) incl. pattern updates, DoS/Flood Protection, SSL & IPsec based VPN and Remote Access, Advanced Routing, WAN Link Balancing and detailed Network Security Reporting.

Web Application Security 

Status: disabled
Exp. Date: not licensed
Description: This subscription enables protection of servers behind ASG from modern attacks and exploits. Keep your Web and Mail servers safe using defenses against Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), SQL Injection, Application Attacks, Cookie Tampering, and more. Web Application Firewall supports standard HTTP and encrypted HTTPS (SSL) connections.

Here are my license details:

Registration Date: 20 January 2010
License Revision: 1
Special: Home use only
Type: Software
Model:
Max. Users: 50
Max. Connections: 32000
Hot-standby: enabled

    Same issue here - my SSL VPN connection is no longer working. I hope this is a mistake, otherwise Astaro just screwed a bunch of us over.

    The licensing scheme did change last year to account for new major feature sets that have been added and you are using the old type (revision 1).  Go to your myastaro account, upgrade the home license to revision 2, redownload the updated license and apply it to your Astaro.  You should be good to go then.

    The licensing scheme did change last year to account for new major feature sets that have been added and you are using the old type (revision 1).  Go to your myastaro account, upgrade the home license to revision 2, redownload the updated license and apply it to your Astaro.  You should be good to go then.


    I'm on the new license - updated almost as soon as they announced the new scheme. Everything was working correctly for me until after the 8.103 update, now IPS, and SSL are not working because the system says I'm not licensed for them.

    "Licensing Info - Remote Access SSL is disabled as you do not have a subscription or your subscription is expired!"

    "Licensing Info - Intrusion Prevention is disabled as you do not have a subscription or your subscription is expired!"

    The Dashboard shows that Remote Access is enabled and the SSL page show the status as green but options are greyed out and not clickable.

    Any other thoughts?

    The home licenses aren't permanent and do need to be renewed every so often.  Go to your myastaro account and look at the license details.  Did your Net Security one expire?  I'll bet that's what happened.  Read my last two posts in the thread at https://community.sophos.com/products/unified-threat-management/astaroorg/f/52/t/27994 for an explanation and a workaround if you have a license with different expiration dates in it and can't renew.

    I only have one license - maybe my box is borked or even though I updated to the new model I have components with diff expiration dates?

    It's not your box.  

    The split-expiration problem came about with converting to the new model.  It had an unintended consequence (bug) in that the myastaro portal won't allow renewal unless a license is completely expired (all components).

    Just make a new myastaro account with a different email (gmail, hotmail, or another free service will do).  Then you can create a new home license, download, and apply it.  Then you'll be all fixed up.  Won't take more than a few minutes.

    I went and signed up for another home license through astaro.com with a different e-mail address than I used previously. After getting the license file e-mailed to me I applied it to my box and everything is green again.

    Yep that did it. Thanks for your help and sticking with me even though I was not listening at first.
