Browsing Slowdown

I am running version 8.103 HOME License on a Dell Optiplex GX 620 (all I had around the house). When I first started I had it behind my SonicWall so I could learn and play with rules without exposing my network. Life was grand. I have since tried removing the SonicWall and when I do the web browsing speed drops to almost nothing. It is almost like I'm being attacked and the Dell hardware can't handle the load. And yet when I look at the hardware usage (2011-06-11_2013 - DanKimble's library) I'm not seeing any heavy loads.  (The empty spot is when we lost power for 12 hours).

Thoughts please as I'm really liking Astaro and am not wanting to have to upgrade my SonicWall.

    OK, I unplugged the cable modem, disabled the external NIC in Astara, rerouted the patch cable from the Astara to the modem (bypassing the SonicWall), plugged in the modem (waited 60+ seconds), waited about 10 seconds and activated the external NIC in Astara, watched for IP connections to come up. I then ran speedtest.net and received between 1.25M and 1.35M download.  I tried changing the external NIC to half-duplex and MTU to 576 - couldn't even run the speedtest. Changed NIC to full-duplex and MTU back to 1500, repatched through the SonicWall (without rebooting anything) and I'm back to 12+M on speedtest.net.

    nopers.  YOu ahve to do it in the order specified.  I'll repost

    with everything "hot"

    power off sonicwall.  power off cable modem.  Make sure wan nic on astaro is set to dhcp cable modem.  leave wan nic on astaro enabled.

    now then.  connect astaro directly to cable modem eth port.  power up cable modem.  if after 5 minutes you ahe no speed or no access power everything down(including astaro).  unplug ALL cables form the cable modem.  Wait 5 minutes.  

    reconnect cables EXCEPT power to cable modem.  power up astaro and cable modem.  wait 5-10 minutes.

    try again.  if you still have no speed you have a serious astaro misconfiguration, a bad cable, a bad/incompatible nic..or something.  At this point we would need a full descrioption of your astaro hardware, cable modem make and model, inet provider, switch setup..etc etc etc
